Presentation

Natures intérieures

The Centre des monuments nationaux (CMN) and the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap ) are presenting a selection of iconic works inspired by living forms - plant, mineral or animal - or by atmospheric phenomena at the villa Savoye. The villa, punctuated by the interplay of volumes, openings and colours, as well as by multiple 'framings' on the landscape, is the ideal setting for this event celebrating the intimate relationship between architecture and nature, and showing the richness and constancy of the 'models of nature' used by contemporary designers.

The different types of work (seats, tables, lighting, crockery, vases, etc.) are used in relation to the different rooms in the house. Among them, the famous Miss Blanche armchair by Shiro Kuramata (1988) sums up this masterful combination of nature and artifice, with its inclusions of red roses in acrylic resin.

Architecture is about establishing moving relationships with raw materials.
