Presentation
The five points of a new architecture. Formulated by Le Corbusier in 1927 to theorise the fundamental principles of the Modern Movement, they stem from the use of reinforced concrete: stilts, garden roof, free plan, long windows, free facade - all implemented for the villa. The architect. Swiss-born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret (1887-1965), also known as Le Corbusier, was part of the Parisian avant-garde. He was a founding member of the Congrès internationaux d'architecture moderne (Ciam), launched in 1928. A major building. This weekend house completes the cycle of the architect's villas and synthesises the modern architectural vocabulary. Abandoned, the building was restored by the State between 1963 and 1997, and classified as a historic monument in 1964, during the architect's lifetime - a rare feat.
